Welcome to the website for the 26th Annual Nonhuman Primate Models for AIDS meeting. Our teams from Wisconsin and Puerto Rico are working very hard to make this the most successful NHP AIDS meeting ever. Registration and abstract submissions are now open! There is only space for 300 registrants so we encourage you to make your arrangements soon. Eminent researchers spanning the spectrum of nonhuman primate AIDS work are already planning to join us in San Juan in December 2008 and we hope that you will join them. Between the satellite meetings and the main scientific program, we expect that the quality of the science will be enriching to each and every participant. Nos vemos en San Juan!
Dr. David O'Connor, Wisconsin Primate Research Center
Dear colleague,
The Caribbean Primate Research Center (CPRC) is delighted to co-chair the 26th Annual Symposium for Nonhuman Primate Models for AIDS to be held December 9-12, 2008 in San Juan Puerto Rico. We are working together with the Wisconsin Primate Research Center to organize an excellent scientific meeting.
We encourage you to participate in this exciting meeting, enjoy the beauty of Puerto Rico, and visit Cayo Santiago, a free-ranging monkey island which was the basis for the concept of the existing eight National Primate Centers. Cayo Santiago, one of the three field stations of the CPRC, is also one of the most active centers in behavior and biomedical research in the world. In addition, Cayo-derived monkeys are contributing to our better understanding of AIDS pathogenesis and to the development of vaccines against infectious diseases, which we still need to conquer.
Do not miss the opportunity to meet with 300 scientists and AIDS research professionals in a one-of-a-kind meeting where outstanding scientists from all over the world will be mixed together. We welcome you to “La Isla del Encanto”!
Dr. Edmundo Kraiselburd, Caribbean Primate Research Center
Also, don't miss out on the great opportunity to visit Cayo Santiago while you are in Puerto Rico!
